BOJ's Fukui on the global economy

In a speech given on 25 September Toshihiko Fukui of the Bank of Japan emphasized the central bank's commitment to eradicating deflation.

"Currently, Japanese core CPI (consumer price index) is still declining slightly, and the Bank of Japan steadfastly adheres to the commitment I have just explained," Fukui told an annual meeting of the Institute of International Finance.

"It will not lead to a monetary policy judgment unless we look at the impact on both the economy and prices," he said.
