RBA's Debelle: recession's impact uncertain
The impact of global developments on Australia is uncertain, said Guy Debelle, the deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Speaking at a national bankruptcy congress, Debelle said that the task of managing the economy was more difficult than in 2001, when Australia managed to sidestep the global recession, because it now had a bigger inflation overhang. However, he stressed that the inflation problem was manageable and was being dealt with.
