Why worry about inflation? - Sri Lankan deputy gov

In this speech W.A. Wijewardena, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, explains why "inflation is undoubtedly the public enemy number one."

Wijewardena points out that "inflation hurts everyone alike: bankers, businessmen, workers, consumers and so forth." He adds: "Since inflation affects everyone and people have limited prospects of escaping it, it is considered as the public enemy number one."

The deputy governor points out further that "inflation favours borrowers and discourages
