Buba's Weber on central bank independence

In the speech 'The independence of the central bank and inflation - the Bundesbank example' given on 26 October Axel Weber of the Bundesbank said the most important aspect of central bank independence in the euro area is that the central banks of the ESCB are independent of political instructions.

"Neither the ECB nor the national central banks, nor any member of their decision making bodies are allowed to seek or take instructions from Community institutions or from any government," Weber said.
