New euro banknotes go down well in the Netherlands

Nonetheless familiarity with design features remains low

The Dutch public prefer the new €5 and €10 banknotes to their predecessors – despite the fact they struggle to remember their appearance and security features.

This was one of the central findings of a study conducted by research agency Motivaction for the Netherlands Bank. It found that while most of the public were familiar with the colouring of the new notes they did not recall many of the design features.
