Bank of Portugal: calendar effects valuable data source for ATM patterns

A paper published by the Bank of Portugal in June analyses the calendar effects present in Automated Teller Machines (ATM) withdrawals of residents and shows the presence of these effects are crucial to understanding the evolution of ATM withdrawals.

The paper analyses the daily evolution of ATM withdrawals, using information available at the payment systems department of the Bank of Portugal, for a period from January 2001 to December 2008.
