Slovenia's capital failure

The poor performance of Slovenia's capital markets illustrates the difficulties in developing capital markets in small emerging economies, according to a paper published by the International Monetary Fund.

Slovenia, despite the necessary infrastructure, lacks the scale to compete with large mature markets. To encourage capital markets growth, the paper suggests countries like Slovenia leverage their existing setup in the context of regional integration.
