Bank of Estonia – Annual Report 2008

The objective of adopting the euro needs to be borne in mind when planning any economic policy measures, said Andres Lipstok, the governor of the Bank of Estonia, in its latest Annual Report.

Lipstok said that a postponement of the euro objective would make the return to a sustainable convergence path more challenging in the global financial crisis situation. He said that in order to adopt the euro, additional fiscal consolidation efforts were needed.
