Real GDP rose by 6.1%, up from 5% in 2005. The agriculture sector performed poorly, growing by a relatively paltry 2.5% after copraand cocoa production declined. But the economy was boosted by the strong performance of the fishing, log production, services, construction, transport and communications industries. The balance of payments reported a surplus for the fifth year in succession.
