Federal Reserve Bulletin, Autumn 2005

The Federal Reserve published its Bulletin for Autumn 2005 on 5 January. The article 'Recent developments in the credit card market and the financial obligations ratio' says three developments in the credit card market contributed to the rise in the overall household FOR during the past fifteen years.

"Had the share of households with credit cards, the level of credit card interest rates, and the transactions-related demand for credit cards all remained at their 1989 levels, credit card debt
