
Somalian central bank to print first notes since 1991

The Central Bank of Somalia (CBS) will resume printing banknotes in 2017 after its banknote operations ceased more than a quarter of a century ago, the central bank announced earlier this year.
With the help of the International Monetary Fund, the central bank plans to print a new 1,000 Somali shilling ($0.05) note this year, according a recent International Monetary Fund report published in February 2017.
