Kenya’s Imperial Bank saga continues with fresh court ruling

Central Bank of Kenya to resume discussing recovery plan for Imperial Bank

The High Court of Kenya has lifted an order prohibiting the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) and the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) from rescuing troubled commercial institution Imperial Bank, and simultaneously ruled the authorities cannot liquidate the bank.

In a ruling that has created more confusion than clarity for many depositors, who took to social media to complain, both the central bank and Imperial Bank shareholders believe they have come out on top, with the latter firing
