Ghana drafts first electronic payment regulation

New regulation will apply to banks and other financial institutions wanting to provide electronic money services

Bank of Ghana to regulate all electronic banking under new legislation

The Bank of Ghana has published a draft payments regulation, which will be presented to parliament after a consultation period, with the aim of regulating e-payments and transactions.

Currently, there are no specific regulations governing issuers of electronic money and payment services, but the new Payment Services Regulation will fill that gap, the bank said in a statement.
