Yellen offers helicopter money cautious support
Policy should only be used in "extreme" circumstances, Fed chair says
Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen offered her cautious support to the idea of helicopter money during a press conference on June 15.
After carefully hedging her remarks with warnings on what has happened in the past when central banks printed too much money, Yellen said such a policy is "something that one might legitimately consider".
"I would see this as a very abnormal, extreme situation where one needs an all-out attempt," she told reporters.
As rates remain stuck at the zero lower bound
