A Central Bank of Cyprus director warned governor Panicos Demetriades will "have to face the verdict of history and of future generations" in a scathing open letter that re-opens the debate on central bank's governance.

Alexandros Michaelides suggested Demetriades had shown little regard for the board of directors, and withheld information from its members, in a letter published yesterday on the Cypriot website StockWatch.
