Polish banks set up joint standard for mobile payments

A group of six Polish banks are to set up a common standard for mobile payment – claiming it will eventually allow more than 10 million bank clients to make payments via hand-held devices.

The new agreement will allow clients to make mobile payments, use ATMs and transfer funds to the telephone number of a receiver – functions that are currently unavailable in Poland.

The six participating institutions – Millenium Bank, Alior Bank, Bank Zachodni WBK, BRE Bank, ING Bank Śląski and PKO Bank Polski
