UK banks exceed BoE target for £5 note dispensing

The Bank of England (BoE) today (April 26) announced the success of an initiative to increase the availability of "good quality" £5 notes in the UK.

In March 2010 the Bank set major financial institutions and ATM operators a target of ensuring at least 1.2% of their ATM dispense was in £5s in 2012. The Bank of England reported that those banks and building societies were now collectively dispensing 1.5% in £5s, beating the target set.
