HKMA plans launch of new HK$500 note

A new HK$500 ($64.14) banknote is set to enter circulation next Tuesday, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has said. The note is part of the central bank's new 2010 banknote series.

The HKMA said the HK$500 note will be made available for exchange at the three note-issuing banks – Standard Chartered Bank, Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and Bank of China – from February 22, 2011.

The new HK$500 note is part of a banknote series unveiled last year, which also includes revised versions
