Nigeria stands by Sanusi’s government barbs

The Central Bank of Nigeria is standing firm on controversial remarks by its governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on the cost of the National Assembly, the country's legislature, which have sparked an outcry from lawmakers.

The dispute concerns comments Sanusi made in late November. Nigerian news sources reported that Sanusi had said the National Assembly costs 25% of the country's whole budget. Some sources also reported that he said 25% of all recurring expenditure goes to the National Assembly.
