Paper problems delay release of new $100 note

Production problems at the printing press will delay the issuance of the new $100 banknote, the Federal Reserve said Friday.

The new design was due to be released on 10 February 2011. However, the Fed said problems with "sporadic creasing" of the paper, which were not apparent during pre-production testing, meant there would be insufficient inventories to begin distributing the new $100 notes as planned.
