Meirelles flags travails of financial reform

Multilateral institutions must ensure financial reform is coherent by overcoming disparate national interests, Henrique Meirelles, the governor of the Central Bank of Brazil, said Thursday.

"There are regions that want to deal more rigorously with some types of activities outside the [main] financial system, and also want to address the cost of reform carefully as they move forward. Others have a different assessment," Meirelles said in Brussels, noting clashes on the regulation of hedge funds.
