Bangladesh Bank switches to solar power

The Bangladesh Bank's head office will be lit by solar power from Tuesday.

Lighting in parts of the central bank's Dhaka office will be powered by a solar power plant. The plant, which will produce 20.3 kW of electricity through 116 solar panels, cost Tk1.35 crore ($195m). The plant also has batteries to store energy.

The energy will light the governor's office, the guest room, the boardroom, the conference room, and the boundary wall lighting.
