Argentine court blocks debt repayment fund

An appeals court on Wednesday dealt another blow to Argentine president Cristina Fernández's plan to transfer $6.6 billion of the central bank's reserves to a debt repayment fund.

The court upheld an injunction taken out on 8 January by Martín Redrado, the central bank's former governor, who resigned in February over the dispute with Fernández. The case, which was filed by opposition politicians, will now be referred to the South American country's Supreme Court.
