IMF’s Blanchard warns of tough times ahead

Olivier Blanchard, the chief economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has warned that in the aftermath of the crisis potential output and growth are likely to remain stilted for the foreseeable future.

Writing for the IMF's Finance and Development magazine, Blanchard said he expected the crisis to lead to a fall in potential output and that very high growth rates during the recovery were unlikely.
