Strauss-Kahn complains of "overly powerful" ECB

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, has said that the lack of a political counterweight for the European Central Bank (ECB) has made the institution too powerful.

Strauss-Kahn, France's former finance minister, told Le Monde, a newspaper, on Monday 3 March that the euro was overvalued because of the central bank's omnipotence: "The problem with the euro is that the European Central Bank, which works well to combat inflation, is overly powerful: it
