The governor of the Banque de France has said he is unlikely to vote for policy changes at the upcoming meeting of the European Central Bank’s governing council.

François Villeroy de Galhau told listeners to radio station France Inter on March 5 that “2026 is not 2022”. The energy price spike of 2022 and the high inflation in the eurozone that followed Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine were unlikely to be repeated, he said.
