BOT to enhance regulatory practices

Tarisa Watanagase, the new governor of the Bank of Thailand, said Wednesday 15 November that the central bank will look to enhance efficiency and apply the best international regulatory practices to the banking system.

"Eventually, we will see more new players, both foreign and local, in the banking system. But we will do it step-by-step and announce a definite timeframe for banks to adjust," she said.

Dr Tarisa said the central bank expects key laws underlying its independence and supervision
