Dallas Fed chief sees dollar staying top currency

Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas President Richard Fisher said on Friday 17 November he does not expect a global shock that would be big enough to remove the dollar's status as the world's top currency.

Fisher also told a panel discussion on the extended importance of the euro at the Frankfurt European Banking Congress he did he expect the role of the dollar to be downgraded among central bank reserves.

``It would be very difficult to replace the dollar as the central holding of central banks,''
