Greenspan receives Dept of Defense medal

Outgoing Federal Reserve chairman, Alan Greenspan, was presented with the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service by US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld on Monday 23 January.

The citation for the award reads:

"Dr. Alan Greenspan is recognized for distinguished public service as Chairman, United States Federal Reserve, from August 1987 to January 2006. Dr. Greenspan contributed enormously to a strong national defense by helping to promote the continued strength and steady
