US renews calls for China yuan reform

US Deputy Treasury Secretary Robert Kimmitt on Friday 17 November called on China to move more quickly to reform its currency and said he would likely discuss the issue with Chinese officials at the Group of 20 meeting in Melbourne.

"We believe that the Chinese need to accelerate the movement of their exchange rate to reflect underlying market conditions," Kimmitt told reporters ahead of the annual meeting of finance ministers and central bankers from the G20, which begins on Saturday.
