Trichet notes exchange-rate instability fears

Jean-Claude Trichet, the president of the European Central Bank (ECB), has acknowledged that he is concerned about exchange rate volatility given the current value of the euro.

"We're concerned about excessive exchange-rate moves in the present circumstances," said Trichet following a meeting of some of the world's top central bankers in Basel on Monday 10 March, adding that he had "noted with extreme attention" the US authorities' statement reaffirming that a strong dollar was in the interests
