Repse's deputy may take a shot at top position

LATVIA - The Bank of Latvia vice-president Ilmars Rimsevics may agree to run for the top position with the central bank, if approached with such an offer.

Rimsevics said, however, that so far nobody had offered him to replace the current Bank of Latvia president, Einars Repse, who is about to switch to politics by forming a new party.

Rimsevics also said he had no plans to get involved in politics in the near future.

Repse is expected to quit the office of the central bank president late November
