Trichet 'inflexibly attached' to ECB independence
Answering questions at the ECB's news conference after it kept interest rates unchanged, Trichet noted that Article 108 of the EU Treaty prohibits the ECB and members of its decision-making body from seeking or taking instructions from governments of EU member states.
