Atlanta Fed names Lockhart as new president

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta announced Thursday 8 February that it has picked Dennis Lockhart, a 17-year veteran of Citigroup and now a professor of international business at Georgetown University as its new president.

Lockhart, 60, succeeds Jack Guynn, who retired from the Atlanta Fed on 1 Oct 2006.

"Dennis is a seasoned and versatile leader, bringing with him a wealth of experience in banking, finance and international business," said Larkin Martin, chairman of the Atlanta Fed board.
