Bush to nominate Lazear to head CEA

US President George W. Bush has picked a business school professor, Edward Lazear, to be the chairman of his Council of Economic Advisers, the White House announced late Monday 30 January.

Lazear teaches at Stanford University's graduate school of business and is also a senior fellow at the conservative Hoover Institution.

He has previously served as a member of Bush's commission on federal tax reform.

If confirmed, he will replace Ben Bernanke, newly chosen to replace Alan Greenspan as Federal
