Gerashchenko chosen as new Yukos chairman

Former chairman of the Central Bank of Russia Viktor Gerashchenko was elected chairman of Yukos, the Russian oil giant, on Thursday 24 June.

The election of Viktor Gerashchenko appeared to underline shareholders' intense desire to resolve the tax claim, which Yukos says could force the company, a key player in Russia's economy, into bankruptcy.
