Looking ahead, the fresh board, coming on the heels of a new banking law, should be beneficial for the sector, since it shows that the government is making efforts to improve regulations and supervision of banks. Meanwhile, Egypt's foreign reserves increased to US$14.8 billion in May, from US$14.5 billion in April, apparently owing to rules forcing exporters to hand over 75% of their foreign exchange earnings.
