S. Korea fin min says cb can support recovery

South Korea's Minister of Finance and Economy Han Duck-Soo said Tuesday 13 September that the Bank of Korea should use its monetary policy to support economic growth as inflationary pressure is benign.

"The main task for the central bank's monetary policy is to maintain stability in consumer prices...but core inflation is around 2%, which is below expectations (and very stable)," Han said at a regular media briefing.

"Thus the Bank of Korea can utilize its tools to focus on other issues."
