EU's Almunia says China move on rates uncertain

It is impossible to gauge how or when China will decide to adjust its fixed currency peg, the European Union's top monetary official said on Monday.

Joaquin Almunia, European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, said China was a key to resolving growing imbalances in global trade and financial accounts -- something the Group of Seven economic powers put at the top of its agenda this weekend when it called for "vigorous" action.
