Thai central bank upbeat on economy

Thailand's central bank painted a rosy economic picture yesterday, saying gross domestic product could grow as much as 5.5 per cent this year despite slower growth in the second quarter.

Bank of Thailand governor Pridiyathorn Devakula told businessmen he was sticking by his forecast of 4.5-5.5 per cent annual economic growth this year.
