Eurozone April inflation down to 1.8%

Inflation in the eurozone fell to 1.8 percent in April, down from 1.9 percent in March, the European Union's statistics bureau Eurostat said Monday 30 April.

The figure marked the eighth consecutive month that the euro zone inflation remained below the two percent ceiling preferred by the European Central Bank (ECB) to maintain price stability.

The ECB increased its rate in March by another 0.25 percentage points to 3.75 percent, which was the eurozone's seventh rate hike since December.
