Report says Fed to consider inflation target

Federal Reserve policy-makers will next week discuss whether to set a numerical objective for inflation and, if so, what it should be, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday 27 January.

The Fed considers such long-term topics twice a year, and no formal decision is likely, the newspaper said. Nor is an explicit, public inflation target on the table, according to the report, which cited people familiar with the matter.
