UAE's Suwaidi wins fifth term

Sultan Bin Nasser al-Suwaidi, the governor of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emriates (UAE), will serve another four-year term.

WAM, a state-owned news agency, reported on Monday that Al-Suwaidi, who took charge of the central bank in December 1991, would head the institution until the end of 2011 at least.

Al-Suwaidi's fourth term expired in December 2007 and Monday's decision ends months of speculation that the authorities would opt to replace him.
