Trichet says world economy growing strongly

The G10 central bankers group said Monday 7 May that the world economy continues to grow at a "very encouraging" rate.

"We confirm that global growth is very encouraging, we are fully in line with what we have expressed at the last IMF meeting and the last meeting here in Basel," G10 chairman Jean-Claude Trichet told journalists following a meeting of the central bankers group.

He said there is "confirmation of a very strong growth at a global level".
