Sri Lanka's new governor to protect independence

Sri Lanka's newly appointed central bank governor said on Monday 3 July that he will promote the independence of the institution, which has come under fire in recent years.

"The Central Bank of Sri Lanka is an institution which operates with some independence," governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal said, addressing bank employees and invited guests on Monday.
