SADC central banks meet in Malawi

Central banks from the Southern Africa Development Corporation (SADC) region are meeting at Ryalls Hotel in Malawi's commercial city of Blantyre to devise new laws that would be used as a benchmark for the standardization of central banks.

"Operational independence of central banks is essential for effective monetary policy implementation," said Mary Nkosi, deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM), opening the Blantyre workshop.

The meeting is expected to create a legal and operational
