Indonesia's Boediono gets the nod

Boediono, Indonesia's economics minister, will become governor of the country's central bank in May after a parliamentary committee approved his appointment.

At a hearing before parliament, Boediono stressed that the central bank should look beyond a narrow inflation targeting approach.

"In containing inflation, Bank Indonesia cannot count solely on pure inflation-targeting framework, as used in developed economies," he said.
