Eurozone rates appropriate says Weber

ECB governing council member Axel Weber said on Sunday 25 September ECB interest rates were appropriate, despite a rise in German consumer prices.

"We think that in the course of 2006, eurozone inflation will be back below a level which is compatible with price stability. That's why we think ... current monetary policy is appropriate," Weber, who is also president of Germany's Bundesbank, told a news conference on the fringes of International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings here.
