Stark tipped as Issing's replacement at ECB

Germany wants to hold its seat on the European Central Bank's executive board and could nominate Bundesbank Vice President Juergen Stark to replace Otmar Issing next year, Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Mirow said in an interview this week.

Stark, who has held the post of Vice President at Germany's central bank since 1998, is "very respected," Mirow said in an interview at a meeting of EU finance ministers in Brussels.

Mirow said the new government of Chancellor Angela Merkel has not yet decid
