Zhou predicts "mild slowdown" for China

Zhou Xiaochuan, the governor of the People's Bank of China, said the fallout from the global credit turmoil will have just a small impact on Chinese growth next year.

However, Zhou recommended that the country's exporters increase their focus on markets other than the United States.

Speaking to Xinhua, the state-owned news agency, Zhou said he predicted the subprime crisis would dampen consumer spending in the United States and the eurozone, the two biggest importers of Chinese goods, but said
